Director of R&D, SmartPractice, Hillerød

SmartPractice Denmark develops, manufactures and distributes innovative patch testing medicinal products, ancillary supplies, and world class customer support and education.  SmartPractice is the global market leader for contact allergy patch testing, everyday living the motto “because patients deserve a diagnosis”.

SmartPractice’s 45 employees are located in Hillerød. Due to increased focus on R&D, SmartPractice is now looking for a Director of R&D to lead, manage and develop the Analytical and Pharmaceutical Development departments for present and pipeline products and processes. The position reports to the President of SmartPractice, Denmark, and offers strong influence and opportunities for personal and professional development.

THE POSITION

You will be part of the management team and head the Analytical and Pharmaceutical Development departments with a total of currently 8 experienced and highly skilled colleagues. Beside your management responsibilities, you will be executing a number of hands-on stability assignments.

Your main areas of responsibility will be:

• overall planning in the departments Analytical and Pharmaceutical Development
• day-to-day management of the laboratories
• preparation of budget for operations, investment and personnel expenses
• ensuring that staff is qualified and continuously trained in GMP and working processes
• approval of reports regarding Pharmaceutical and Analytical Development
• ensuring that the Quality System is followed and periodically reviewed
• approval of Design Control documents
• documentation of combination products
• manage implementation project of an external lab for the associated company in Germany

Hands on stability assignments:

• tasks in the stability lab according to procedures and guidelines
• planning and handling of stability tests, evaluation and approval of stability data
• preparation of stability protocols and reports, and documents for registration and clinical trial
• stability room, incl. alarms, control and maintenance

Further, you:

• hold a relevant educational background
• possess extensive experience from GMP in Pharma
• preferably have experience from pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory work
• are a natural and dedicated leader with great cooperation skills
• understand and are able to cope with the demands of authorities and other stakeholders
• possess excellent decision-making and communications skills
• are fluent in both Danish and English (orally, written, listening)
• maintain a good overview, always follow up and meet your deadlines
